Sharjeel Memon Uphold the Law, Not Personal

In a recent interaction with the media in Karachi, Sharjeel Memon, a senior provincial minister, expressed his dissatisfaction with the ambiguity of a recent court ruling. He hinted at ongoing favouritism in the judiciary, which he termed Ladlaism. The People’s Party leader emphasized the importance of adhering to the law over preferential treatment.

Sharjeel Memon highlighted that his party has consistently respected the law despite suffering significant setbacks from past court decisions. We have always reluctantly accepted court decisions because we believe in following the law, not ladles, he stated.

Sharjeel Memon Criticize Personal Agendas

The minister expressed concern over the recent Supreme Court decision overturning a ruling from the Peshawar High Court. He found the decision perplexing and indicated that the People’s Party’s legal team would review its implications. Today’s decision is filled with ambiguity, and it’s unclear whether the federal government will seek a review, Sharjeel Memon explained.

Discussing historical biases in the judiciary, Sharjeel Memon pointed to instances where former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar allegedly supported Imran Khan, enhancing Khan’s political standing unjustly. He accused Nisar of facilitating cases against political opponents and creating an environment of judicial partiality.

Further elaborating on the judicial favouritism, he referenced the incident of May 9, where Imran Khan was greeted in the Supreme Court by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal with the phrase Good to see you. Sharjeel Memon criticized this greeting as an undue familiarity offered to an accused in a legal case, reflecting a biased attitude that he claims has been prevalent since the 2018 elections.

Sharjeel Memon argued that such partiality undermines the principles of justice and constitutionality in Pakistan. He questioned the integrity of legal proceedings favouring certain political figures, hinting at a deeper systemic issue within the judicial framework.

Sharjeel Memon Argued About Partiality

Today, PTI did not seek justice, but they received it anyway, Sharjeel Memon concluded. He suggested that the recent court rulings reflect a continued trend of judicial decisions that appear biased towards Imran Khan and his party. He called for decisions based on merit and fairness, urging a reevaluation of how justice is administered in high-profile political cases.
