In 2023, after protests in Pakistan, many PTI members were caught or taken away. During this tough time, Sher Afzal became a key leader. He worked as the lawyer for Imran Khan, the leader of PTI when the authorities held Imran Khan.

Political Career

He started his political career from 2008 to October 15, 2017, with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) party. He left that party because he felt they did not respect him as much as he deserved. 

On April 16, 2018, he joined PTI. This was after Asad Qaiser and Salim Saifullah Khan convinced him to do so. Imran Khan chose Sher Afzal to be the senior vice president of the PTI party. Sher Afzal is also Imran Khan’s lawyer in all his cases.

Sher Afzal wanted to run for elections in 2018 for two seats in Lakki Marwat, representing the PTI. But there was a delay in getting tickets, so he decided not to run for those seats. Even though he withdrew, his name was still on the voting papers as an independent candidate. In the election for NA-36 Lakki Marwat, he got 92 votes but lost to Mohammad Anwar Khan of the MMA. In PK-91 Lakki Marwat-I, he got 33 votes but lost to Munawar Khan, also of MMA.

On September 27, 2023, while on a live TV show on Express News with host Javed Chaudhry, Sher Afzal Marwat got into a big argument with Afnan Ullah, a senator from PML (N). The argument worsened and turned into a fight, with Sher Afzal throwing punches.

Sher Afzal admitted he was part of the fight. But some people from PML (N) and others in the media said that Sher Afzal got hurt, too. However, a police report by Senator Afnan Ullah showed that Sher Afzal hit him. This fight became a big topic, and many people talked about it in politics and on TV.
