Coming from a Hollywood actress grandmother of the 30s and 40s, Anne Gwynne, and from actor parents, Gwynne Gilford and Robert Pine, Chris Pine is predestined to take the same path. However, he decided to take English lessons first at the University of Berkeley in California, then in England, where he studied English and drama at the University of Leeds. After this, he started in the theatre before embarking on a film career in various short films and television series.
Chris Pine Early Career
It is by interpreting Nicholas Devereaux, one of the many contenders for Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, that Chris Pine is taking his first steps on the big screen. He continues his journey by trying out the thriller in Blind Dating (2005) and returns to light comedy with Just My Luck (2006) where he shares the poster with Lindsay Lohan. But it was with the choral thriller film that he entered the big leagues and that he found himself with big names in American cinema, such as Ray Liotta, Ben Affleck, or Andy Garcia.
2009–2016: Star Trek and Worldwide Recognition
Chris Pine continues with a small quality horror film, Infected, but it is with the new Star Trek (2009), where he plays the main character of Captain Kirk, which he is truly revealed to the general public. The blockbuster is enjoying great success in theatres ($ 386 million in revenue worldwide) and generates two suites, Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016).
2017–present: Wonder Woman
He also plays the companion of Wonder Woman in the blockbuster devoted to the superheroine in 2017. In 2017, Chris Pine acted in the DC Comics Wonder Woman blockbuster via the role of Captain Steve Trevor.
