Ashraf was born in Karachi into an Urdu -speaking family. He received his early education from St. Michaels Convent School in Karachi. He received his higher education in visual effects direction at Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania, United States. Furthermore, he did a double major in finance and arts. He claims to have ten years of experience behind the camera.
After the death of his sister, he moved to London in order to study animation and visual effects on the insistence of his late sister, Sadia Ashraf, a director as well as a teacher of filmmaking at the New York University, Bilal claims she is the reason behind his acting career.
Bilal Ashraf Career
Bilal Ashraf, a rising face in the Pakistani industry these days took a start of his acting career by making a small cameo appearance in the 2014 thriller film O21. Appreciated and recognized for his power-packed performance in O21, he later got more offers. In 2016, The bloomina star got a chance for a lead role in his debut movie “Janaan”, which was a romantic comedy, alongside the female lead Armeena Khan and Ali Rehman Khan in supporting role. Janaam was a soft and bold movie which was appreciated and loved by critics as well by the audiences, and grossed enough.
The next year Pakistani cinema was gifted a war film named ‘Yalghaar’ the film grossed decently and impressed the fans as well. Then in 2017 another film of Bilal was released titled ‘Rangreza’ Unfortunately it remained both a critical and commercial failure.
Currently, in 2019, he will play the leading role in Mohammed Ehteshamuddin’s directorial debut, Superstar, produced by Momina Duraid and with Mahira Khan as a co-star.
