Model and actress Maira Khan recently shared her views on feminism during her appearance on the FHM podcast, sparking considerable discussion online. Speaking candidly, Maira Khan revealed that she isn’t a strong believer in feminism as popularly discussed, stating that she feels women should focus on household responsibilities and should be provided with necessary comforts within the home.
When asked about her perspective on relationships, Maira Khan expressed that, as a woman, she doesn’t feel comfortable expressing her feelings first. It’s the boy’s responsibility to make the first move, she said.
In response, the host reminded her of recent campaigns promoting gender equality. Maira Khan, however, held firm, commenting, I don’t believe in hashtag feminism. I think a woman’s place is inside the home, and she should be taken care of there. According to Maira Khan, women should prioritize their families, and personal care, and enjoy shopping, with financial support provided by the men in their lives.
With a smile, she added that since the rise of hashtag feminism, there’s been a lot of talk about equality. People are saying we’re equal and should also work, but I don’t see that happening, she remarked. Maira Khan stated that women and men are not entirely equal, and it’s traditionally the man’s responsibility to earn and support the woman financially.
The actress’s views quickly drew reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with her take on traditional roles, while others questioned her stance, asking why she continues to work and earn if she holds these beliefs. The actress’s comments have reignited the debate on feminism and gender roles, leaving her followers divided.
